CURRENT DELIVERY ISSUES
Since the beginning of this year, the EUR–USD exchange rate has risen by about 6%. I had hoped it would drop again, but it hasn’t—which means every new order I place with Duplo Germany now costs me 6% more.
On top of that, while I have long been aware of the 15% tariff on imports from Germany, I’ve been able to avoid it by ordering smaller parcels for restocking. Recently, however, a presidential executive order suspended tariff and duty exemptions for shipments under a certain value. Until now, I could place parcel orders from Germany without duties or tariffs being applied. Going forward, all of my orders will be subject to a 15% tariff. This is very concerning to me, as I want to continue supplying Duplo products in the U.S. without having to raise prices.
As I’ve been reflecting on this over the past few days, I’d like to propose some alternative products from my current inventory that could serve as substitutes if the item you need happens to be out of stock. If I can meet customer needs with existing stock, it will allow me to postpone any price increases for at least a few months.
Clipped and profiled shoes in sizes 118–138 are also available in the BASIC version.
Heavy Duty Shoes (Extra/green) are available in sizes 118–198, and these are currently offered at a discounted price.
As an alternative to the Duplo Clipped Standard (orange) shoes, we also have Duplo Clipped and Threaded. These are compatible with disc studs but can also be used without studs when fitted with blanks, making them equivalent to the orange version. These are currently available at a reduced price.
